Rosalind

Walnut | Bourbon County, KY

ROSALIND is a walnut wood bowl that I hand turned on my lathe from wood that was responsibly sourced right here in Bourbon County, Kentucky.

I was able to retain a small portion of the inner bark on two spots at the outer edge of the bowl’s rim. Part of the beauty of this piece is how the dark heartwood radiates out toward the sapwood and inner bark. It’s hard to capture in photos, but the lighter sapwood has beautiful blue and lavender hues and shimmers in the light.

The overall walnut wood bowl measures approximately 12-3/8″ wide by 1-3/4″ tall, with the inner bowl portion measuring 9″ wide and 1-1/4″ deep. The wood was polished with food safe walnut oil and finished with carnauba and beeswax to provide a durable finish and rich luster.
