Katherine
Cherry | Bourbon County, KY
KATHERINE is a large cherry wood bowl that I hand turned from wood responsibly sourced here in Bourbon County, Kentucky. The wood sat drying in the loft of a friend’s barn, so was good and dry (and very hard!) by the time I got to it. But was it ever worth the extra effort. The variation in coloring of the wood makes this a particularly striking piece.
This large cherry wood bowl measures approximately 10-3/4″ wide, 2-3/4″ tall, and 2-1/8″ deep. Natural cracks in the wood have been reinforced but otherwise left as is as I consider them unique features of the vessel. The cherry wood was polished with food safe walnut oil and a blend of beeswax and carnauba wax to provide a durable finish and rich luster.
