Finley

Cherry Burl | Bourbon County, KY

FINLEY is a handmade cherry burl lidded wooden bowl that I hand turned on my lathe. The cherry burl wood was responsibly sourced here in Bourbon County, Kentucky.

Burls are knotty growths on trees where the wood has grown in a deformed manner. This particular burl came from a cherry tree. The deformation of the wood as the tree grew created a unique and visually striking grain when viewed from any vantage point.

Without the lid, the bowl is approximately 4-3/4″ wide by 2″ tall with an interior width of 4-1/8″ and a depth of 1-1/2″. With the lid, the measurements are 5″ wide by 2-3/4″ tall. The wood was finished with high friction polish to bring out its natural color, grain, and tone.
